I loved seeing all the creative costumes our friends wore for "Dress as Your Future Self" spirit day! We started our morning by guessing what each of us were dressed as (I came as a crazy cat lady!). We then used the "Draw Then Write" story plans from yesterday, and turned them into full stories in our journals! After recess, we shared some of our stories during "Author's Chair" then had music and phys ed. After lunch, we had free centres (with our Popsicle stick buddies), played a round of "I have... Who has..", and finished with our Valentine's day party!
Thank you to everyone who sent food and cards to our party! We had a blast! Have a fantastic five day weekend!
Please and Thank You / Volunteer Opportunities:
- We would love to have morning reading volunteers to share books with students one-on-one, from 8:30-9:00 any day that it works for you!
- We would very much appreciate volunteers during literacy centers: Tuesday and Thursday from 10:45 - 11:30, and Wednesday and Friday from 9:00 - 9:30. Thanks for considering!
Byblo’s Visit – Feb. 25th
This is for Grade ones and not kindergarten as stated on the calendar.
We will be looking for donations of fillings like, shredded lettuce, slices of/diced tomatoes, sliced cucumbers, meats/sausages, shredded cheese, jam, etc. We will be coming up with a more comprehensive list as we talk about healthy foods that can be put in a pita pocket. I do ask that we do not bring in Nutella or peanut butter due to allergy precautions.
Feb. 18th - 100th Day of School Celebration:
I recognize (and apologize!) that February is a more request-heavy month, and sincerely appreciate your contributions! We will be concocting 100th Day Trail Mix on Thursday, February 18th. We ask that students please bring in a small-sized, non-nut snack item to contribute (roughly 2 or 3 cups should be fine), as well as an egg carton cut down to 10 cups (serving as a ten frame). Students will measure out ten pieces of ten different snacks to enjoy a trail mix of exactly 100! Thank you for your help. The students love to be math chefs!
