We began our day by reading followed by some catch-up time! We then headed over to the Idea Lab, where Mrs. Blanchard introduced us to a problem the school has been working on-- creating a mechanism to keep the bunny (Shadow) in room 10 whilst still leaving the doors open (so students can easily get in and out without interrupting the class)! We interviewed Miss Purkiss, and asked questions to help us narrow down what she is looking for in a solution. We then shared some ideas, wrote them on sticky notes, and added them to the idea board the school has been creating. We finished our morning off with our first Council Meeting! This was run by the Mayor and Deputy Mayor, who led the discussions on the possibility of acquiring a class pet this year.
Have an amazing weekend and I'll see you all again on Monday!

"Give" PoWer Hour Message:
Dear Students and family members of Prince of Wales school,
Mrs. McKay’s POWer hour is all about giving back and helping others. The first group of people that we have chosen to help live right in our city. We will be collecting winter coats, boots, hats, scarves, mitts, and snow pants that are gently used. These items will be for Syrian Refugees from Keeler school in Calgary, where Ms. Georg is now teaching. The refugees have left their homes with nothing but themselves. (Think about it if you did not have a warm winter coat walking out into the snow). Please bring in sizes for age 4 and up. Please help out! Donations can be brought to Mrs. McKay’s classroom,
Please have all donations here by November 4, 2016!
