Highlights of the Day:
It's good to be back! We began our morning with a new writing routine called Uninterrupted, Sustained Writing! We all got our books and pencils ready, and wrote for two whole minutes without taking a break or stopping writing! The students were allowed to write anything they wished-- they could even copy favourite books or poems if they wanted. Tomorrow, we'll try for five minutes! After sharing some of our writing, we then learned about some new Literacy Centre activities we would be doing this week! After recess, we tried out our new centres, then had a blast with a "Frogger" inspired team rely race! After lunch, we spent the whole afternoon working on a Social Studies art project-- we are excited to show them off at Student-Led Conferences later this week!
Student-Led Conferences:
They are being held on Thursday evening and Friday morning. You can book them on-line. Check the Admin blog for further instructions.
Your child will lead you through their current learning and might take you back to the beginning of the year. Plan for 30 minutes before or after your time slot for your child to share.
There is a 15 minute booked time slot with the teacher, but please remember that there will be other students and parents in the classroom at the same time. If you have anything you wish to discuss privately, then please feel free to book another time to meet with the teacher.
Please and Thank You / Volunteer Opportunities:
- We would love to have morning reading volunteers to share books with students one-on-one, from 8:30-9:00 any day that it works for you!
- We would very much appreciate volunteers during literacy centers: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 10:45 - 11:30, and Wednesday and Friday from 9:00 - 9:30. Thanks for considering!
Library:
Our Library day is on Thursday, and many of our students have books out that are long overdue! Please remember to bring back any books that have been taken out of the Library for next Thursday (remember, you can renew books you really want to keep reading!). Thank you!
Mail Pockets:
- Spring Photo Pose Notice.
- Home Reading bags went home if returned.
