Happy Spring Forward! Today, we began by reading the poem "Rain, Rain, Go Away!" and looking for rhyming words! We then continued our Cuisenaire Rod nutrition challenge, by finding all the different ways we could use our Cuisenaire Rods as currency to pay for our "Powerful Meals". After recess, we we each given a picture and as a class, we tried to find different ways we could sort the pictures! At the end, we figured out that the pictures all fell into two categories: Urban or Rural. In phys ed. we enjoyed the Mission Impossible set-up in the gym! After lunch, we had free centres, followed by some more work on our stories with Mrs. Wood! We finished our day with a surprise superstorm between all three grade one classes, around our upcoming project: Leprechaun traps!
Gymnastics Safety
This month the students are enjoying gymnastics in phys ed! Please send children with long hair either pulled back, or with a hair elastic, Monday through Thursday. It is recommended that students go barefoot during gymnastics, unless there are medical concerns, such as foot fungus. In those cases, sturdy running shoes are recommended. Students will be most successful in moveable, comfortable clothing. Dangling jewelry and accessories are a safety concern and will need to be removed during the activity period. Thank you for your support!
