Today, we learned about an early European cartographer named David Thompson, and discussed how Canadian maps have changed from the past to today. We also read the book "Everybody Needs a Rock", choose our own rocks, and sketched them in our sketchbooks in as much detail as we could. After recess, we started our next round of Daily Five called "Read to Partner"-- which we learned helps increase our fluency and strategies as readers! In the afternoon, we learned about the different wetland insects we might see in Alberta, and finished the day off with music with Mrs. Dennill!
Walking Field Trip Volunteers!
This Wednesday (September 27), both grade 5 classes will be taking a walking field trip down to Fish Creek Park to explore the wetlands down there. We will be leaving at 11:30AM and will be eating lunch at the pond (please send lunches that are "picnic friendly"!). We will be returning at 2:35PM-- just in time to go home for the day.
We need two parent volunteers for our class! Please contact me at [email protected] if you are able to come on our trip!
