It is the last week of September, can you believe it? We started our morning by watching video footage of the super blood moon eclipse that we had last night... Did you know we won't see another one like that again until 2033? We then spent some time writing back to our mice friends who left us messages over the weekend! After recess, we showed how many ways we could represent different numbers in our visual journals-- our grade ones were so creative! In gym, we had "playstations" where the students used the equipment to create their own games! After lunch, we created maps of our hearts-- filled with the people and things we love! We finished our day sharing a poetry party with our neighbour class. We learned a song to help us remember the short vowel sounds!
Mail Pockets:
-No new notices today, so mail pockets stayed at school.
Please and Thank You:
- Fun Lunches begin soon in October! If you are interested in ordering for your child and have not already done so, please visit www.healthyhunger.ca to register and order.
- Please return all school forms, volunteer forms, and coupon book packages (whether ordering or not) at your earliest convenience.
- If you have spare phonebooks at home, please consider sending them in (ideally, two stacked together and wrapped in duct tape, please and thank you!). We use these as a tool for children's seated posture, as many of the students' feet don't yet reach the ground in grade one.

Daily Challenge:
We learned a song to help us remember the short vowels, a (fat cat!), e (jelly egg!), i (big pig!), o (hot pot!), and u (skunk bump!) Which is your favourite short vowel, and why? Can you write a silly sentence with lots of words using that short vowel?
