Highlights of the Day:
Another busy day here in grade one! We began by having a catch-up time to finish some of the projects we wanted to show off during Student-Led Conferences! After a quick visit to the library and snack, we cleaned-out and organized our desks! In phys ed., we learned some more cool dance moves we can't wait to show off during our celebration of learning! After lunch, we worked on our Minecraft community! We finished the day in Francais with Mme. Pallesen!
Have a great long weekend, and I can't wait to see you again during Student-Led Conferences!
Gum in Room 8:
We have allowed "thinking gum" in the classroom to be used as a focussing tool during quiet work times, but we are finding that it is being a distraction to the learning process in the classroom. We are requesting that gum be left at home from now on.
Student-Led Conferences:
They are being held tonight and Friday morning. You can book them on-line. Check the Admin blog for further instructions.
Your child will lead you through their current learning and might take you back to the beginning of the year. Plan for 30 minutes before or after your time slot for your child to share.
There is a 15 minute booked time slot with the teacher, but please remember that there will be other students and parents in the classroom at the same time. If you have anything you wish to discuss privately, then please feel free to book another time to meet with the teacher.
Please and Thank You / Volunteer Opportunities:
- We would love to have morning reading volunteers to share books with students one-on-one, from 8:30-9:00 any day that it works for you!
- We would very much appreciate volunteers during literacy centers: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 10:45 - 11:30, and Wednesday and Friday from 9:00 - 9:30. Thanks for considering!
Library:
Our Library day is Thursday, and many of our students have books out that are long overdue! Please remember to bring back any books that have been taken out of the Library for next Thursday (remember, you can renew books you really want to keep reading!). Thank you!
Mail Pockets:
- No new mail today.
- Home Reading bags went home if returned.
