Highlights of the Day:
We began our day with a word-scramble challenge! The class was given a mixed-up word and asked to find as many different word combinations as they could! We found quite a few different words, and eventually figured out the big word was "shower"! After recess, we had Literacy Centres, followed by phys ed. After lunch, we sang a new song in music, and wrote our February writing sample! (We have improved so much in even just a month!) We then headed over to Mrs. Morin's class for a sensory vacation story, to help us start thinking about the 5 senses. We used all 5 senses to help us fully experience and imagine a tropical beach paradise!
Please remember to wear a pink shirt tomorrow to help show your support and raise awareness around bullying (and how we can help!)
Please and Thank You / Volunteer Opportunities:
- We would love to have morning reading volunteers to share books with students one-on-one, from 8:30-9:00 any day that it works for you!
- We would very much appreciate volunteers during literacy centers: Tuesday and Thursday from 10:45 - 11:30, and Wednesday and Friday from 9:00 - 9:30. Thanks for considering!
Byblo’s Visit – Feb. 25th
On February 25, we will be having an exciting presentation on nutrition by FoodImpact c/o Byblos Bakery that discusses the importance of healthy eating. The Bakery will kindly supply the pita bread for the children to make their own healthy pita snack, as well as pitas for the students to take home to enjoy with their families. Please be sure to pack a lunch for your children as the food eaten in the presentation is only a snack.
We will be looking for donations of fillings like, shredded lettuce, slices of/diced tomatoes, sliced cucumbers, meats/sausages, shredded cheese, jam, etc. We will be coming up with a more comprehensive list as we talk about healthy foods that can be put in a pita pocket. I do ask that we do not bring in Nutella or peanut butter due to allergy precautions.
Mail Pockets:
- Byblo's Parent Letter.
- Home Reading bags went home if returned.
Upcoming Dates:
- Feb. 24 – Pink Shirt (Anti-Bullying) Day
- Feb. 25 – Byblo's Visit
- Mar. 2 – Fun Lunch – Booster Juice
- Mar. 16 – Fun Lunch – Taco Time
- Mar. 18 – PD Day – NO SCHOOL
- Mar. 21-28 – Spring Break – NO SCHOOL
Daily Challenge:
We talked about how our senses can help trigger memories from our past experiences. What memories were triggered for you during our "tropical vacation" sensory story?
