Highlights of the Day:
Our morning started with us learning a fun new math game: Salute! It requires three players, and a deck of cards. One person is the general, while the other two hold up cards on their foreheads (so they can see the other person's card, but not their own). The "general" then tells the players what the sum of both their cards equals-- the goal of the game is to guess what card you have first! After recess, we continued to work on our stories, then headed off to phys. ed. After an indoor lunch recess, we had Francais! We then checked in on our bean seeds-- and were excited to discover that many of them have started to germinate and grow roots! We finished the day by learning a new logic puzzle game with our buddies!
No school tomorrow or Monday, so please enjoy your extra long weekend!
The families of Beacon Hill School in Fort McMurray have lost everything. Their principal, Garrett Tebay and her librarian, have asked for our support. They would like to help their families rebuild their home libraries. Prince of Wales can help!! Clean out your bookshelves, order some new books from Scholastic or stop by your local bookstore. Please drop off NEW or Gently Used books at the school. Mrs. Tebay will pick them up when she is in Calgary and deliver them. Thank you for your help!
Please and Thank You / Volunteer Opportunities:
- We would love to have morning reading volunteers to share books with students one-on-one, from 8:30-9:00 any day that it works for you!
1) We would gratefully welcome 4 volunteers to join us on a Suburban Community Tour around our school's neighborhood on Monday, June 6.
2) The grade one Urban Community Tour will be on Tuesday, June 14. This is a while away, but we are hoping for 10-12 volunteers to make it as smooth an experience as possible. It is always a highlight for grade one students and parents, so we hope you can join us!
Library:
Our Library day is Thursday, and many of our students have books out that are long overdue! Please remember to bring back any books that have been taken out of the Library for next Thursday (remember, you can renew books you really want to keep reading!). Thank you!
Mail Pockets:
- Seeds and Plant Pots (from the Grain Academy).
- Home Reading bags went home if returned.
