Highlights of the Day:
We began our day by continuing our discussion around mental math strategies that can help us when we're stuck: like making 10, and counting-on from the highest number! We then tried out our new strategies by playing "Salute!" After Library and recess, we had some time to work on our stories-- they are really coming along! In phys. ed., we learned a new tag game-- Lifeguard tag! After lunch, we enjoyed Francais with Mme. Pallesen, then continued our discussion on what makes something living, rather than non-living! We finished our day with our buddies, in a fun Go Noodle! dance party and touring the bridge fair!
PoWer Hour Showcase:
Tomorrow will be an opportunity to check out your child's PoWer Hour! The showcase portion will take place from 11:15 - 11:45 on Friday morning. If you have more than one child to go visit, siblings can accompany you to watch their brother or sister once you have 'checked them out' of their PoWer Hour group.
Math Evening:
Here is a math evening for those parents who may be interested. Unlocking the Potential of Every Student in Mathematics June 9 at Rundle Academy 6:30 to 8:30. Presenters:
Milk Orders:
The last day students will receive milk will be Thursday, June 2.
Book Donations:
The families of Beacon Hill School in Fort McMurray have lost everything. Their principal, Garrett Tebay and her librarian, have asked for our support. They would like to help their families rebuild their home libraries. Prince of Wales can help!! Clean out your bookshelves, order some new books from Scholastic or stop by your local bookstore. Please drop off NEW or Gently Used books at the school. Mrs. Tebay will pick them up when she is in Calgary and deliver them. Thank you for your help!
Please and Thank You / Volunteer Opportunities:
- We would love to have morning reading volunteers to share books with students one-on-one, from 8:30-9:00 any day that it works for you!
1) We would gratefully welcome 4 volunteers to join us on a Suburban Community Tour around our school's neighborhood on Monday, June 6.
2) The grade one Urban Community Tour will be on Tuesday, June 14. This is a while away, but we are hoping for 10-12 volunteers to make it as smooth an experience as possible. It is always a highlight for grade one students and parents, so we hope you can join us!
Library:
Our Library day is Thursday, and many of our students have books out that are long overdue! Please remember to bring back any books that have been taken out of the Library for next Thursday (remember, you can renew books you really want to keep reading!). Thank you!
Mail Pockets:
- No new mail today.
- Home Reading bags went home if returned.
