Highlights of the Day:
Phew, what a busy day! We started by continuing our pumpkin math measuring, by estimating the circumference (the length around the pumpkin) of the pumpkin, then measuring it with string! We had our second round of literacy centres, followed by another magnificent Music class! In phys ed, we played some Halloween tag games! After lunch, we had our next Power Hour session! We finished the day by playing Mathletics on the computer! Username and password cards for Mathletics have been sent home with the students, so they can log in at home too!
Tomorrow is our library day, and we have nine overdue books still not returned! If you have a library book still at home, please bring it for tomorrow!
Site Update:
New on the blog! Click on the "Videos" and "Links" pages on the menu bar at the side of the blog. On these pages I share some favourite videos we have been using to help us learn, and links to websites including Raz Kids and Mathletics.
Mail Pockets:
- Mail pockets stayed at school as no new notices went home
- Mathletics log-in cards
- Home Reading bags went home if returned
Please and Thank You:
- Thank you for all the wonderful pumpkins! We have plenty to enjoy our pumpkin math activities this week.
- Thank you also for the incredible response to help contribute to Thursday's Halloween celebration snack! We are one lucky class!
Halloween:
Tomorrow, the 29th, students are invited to dress in costumes for the afternoon. We will be enjoying fun activities, snacks, and games!
Volunteer Opportunities:
- I am seeking morning reading volunteers for Monday through Thursday from 8:30-9:00. The students benefit so much from a little extra one-on-one reading time each week, building confidence and a love of reading! This volunteer time may also include supporting letter-sound review, as well as sharing "just right" books. If interested, please email myself ([email protected]) or Jodi ([email protected]) with the weekday(s) that works best for you! Thanks very much!
Library Exchange:
Tomorrow is our library exchange day. Please return your books in order to take out a new one!
Upcoming Dates:
- Oct. 29 - Family Halloween Dance!
- Oct. 30 – PD Day – NO SCHOOL
- Nov. 3 - School Photo envelopes due back
- Nov. 24 – Field Trip – Arts Commons
Daily Challenge:
What did you learn in PoWer Hour today that was interesting? Can you teach your family something new?
