Highlights of the Day:
Phew! What a busy day! We started right off the bat with a special guest speaker, Amanda, who is a city planner and talked to us about things we might consider as we are building our communities! We then worked hard on finishing up our design plans for our buildings. After recess, we got our spring pictures taken (I loved seeing all the students who were dressed-up in their best clothes!) We then had Music, followed by phys ed. outside! After lunch, it was time for Minecraft! The students had a blast creating their buildings out of blocks-- we also learned a lot about problem-solving and how to navigate the world of Minecraft! We finished the day with another grade one superstorm, where we learned the next few verses in our songs!
Student-Led Conferences:
They are being held on Thursday evening and Friday morning. You can book them on-line. Check the Admin blog for further instructions.
Your child will lead you through their current learning and might take you back to the beginning of the year. Plan for 30 minutes before or after your time slot for your child to share.
There is a 15 minute booked time slot with the teacher, but please remember that there will be other students and parents in the classroom at the same time. If you have anything you wish to discuss privately, then please feel free to book another time to meet with the teacher.
Please and Thank You / Volunteer Opportunities:
- We would love to have morning reading volunteers to share books with students one-on-one, from 8:30-9:00 any day that it works for you!
- We would very much appreciate volunteers during literacy centers: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 10:45 - 11:30, and Wednesday and Friday from 9:00 - 9:30. Thanks for considering!
Library:
Our Library day is tomorrow, and many of our students have books out that are long overdue! Please remember to bring back any books that have been taken out of the Library for next Thursday (remember, you can renew books you really want to keep reading!). Thank you!
Mail Pockets:
- No new mail today.
- Home Reading bags went home if returned.
