Highlights of the Day:
We began our morning with 10 minutes of quiet writing time-- and boy was I impressed with the quality of the writing today! After recess, we took some time to reflect on our building process, and record the changes we've made to our building design from when we first started. After music and phys ed. (and fun lunch!) we had our final building time in Minecraft! Tomorrow, we are going to the Idea Lab to take our designs and create an actual model for our buildings!
Idea Lab:
The grade 1's will be heading into the Idea Lab tomorrow to start construction on their community building models!
We would appreciate any material donations (especially cardboard) that could be brought in before Thursday to ensure we have enough materials for everyone!
Gum in Room 8:
We have allowed "thinking gum" in the classroom to be used as a focussing tool during quiet work times, but we are finding that it is being a distraction to the learning process in the classroom. We are requesting that gum be left at home from now on.
Celebration of Learning: Thursday, May 5
The grade ones will be excited to share their community building project from 6 - 6:30, and a performance from 6:30(ish) to 7:00(ish). They are encouraged to dress up as a favourite community helper for the evening!
Please and Thank You / Volunteer Opportunities:
- We would love to have morning reading volunteers to share books with students one-on-one, from 8:30-9:00 any day that it works for you!
- We would very much appreciate volunteers during literacy centers: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 10:45 - 11:30, and Wednesday and Friday from 9:00 - 9:30. Thanks for considering!
Library:
Our Library day is Thursday, and many of our students have books out that are long overdue! Please remember to bring back any books that have been taken out of the Library for next Thursday (remember, you can renew books you really want to keep reading!). Thank you!
Mail Pockets:
- No new mil today.
- Home Reading bags went home if returned.
