Highlights of the Day:
We have been working hard on our stories (and they are looking great!)-- today we began the next steps on our books, and started planning how our characters were going to try (and fail) to solve their problem. After recess, we had music with Mrs. Dennill, and enjoyed the fresh air outside in phys ed.! After lunch, we made our own "Udderly Art" piece (based off the cows we saw on our field trip), around symbols and landmarks of Calgary! We finished the day with our buddies, planning for our Buddy Party next week!
Buddy Party:
We have had so much fun with our grade four buddies this year, that we are having a party! The Buddy Party will be Thursday June 23. Students have taken home a notice with their buddies' favourite healthy drinks and snacks-- each buddy is only required to bring one of the drink/snack options (please email me if there are any issues or concerns, and we will work out an alternative for your buddy).
Recess:
As we get closer to summer, and the days are getting hotter, please make sure to send your child with a hat and sunscreen for those really hot days-- students are still expected to go outside for recess, and even 15 minutes can seem long when you're in the hot hot sun!
Book Donations:
The families of Beacon Hill School in Fort McMurray have lost everything. Their principal, Garrett Tebay and her librarian, have asked for our support. They would like to help their families rebuild their home libraries. Prince of Wales can help!! Clean out your bookshelves, order some new books from Scholastic or stop by your local bookstore. Please drop off NEW or Gently Used books at the school. Mrs. Tebay will pick them up when she is in Calgary and deliver them. Thank you for your help!
Please and Thank You / Volunteer Opportunities:
- We would appreciate 1-2 more volunteers to walk with us for our final seasonal trip to the Fish Creek Ridge. This leisurely walk and observational sketching trip will be at 1:30 on Thursday, June 23. Thank you!
Packing Up
I cannot believe how fast this year has flown, but here we are! Please send 2 bags (strong enough not to break when holding duotangs and supplies, and ideally labeled with sharpie) for this Friday, June 17. Students will begin to pack up and take home their duotangs and belongings!
End of Year Events:
- Yearbook signing is the morning of Thursday, June 23
- End of Year Assembly is 9:00 on Friday, June 24
- Sports Day is the last day with students, the morning of Monday, June 26th.
Library:
Library books are now due back for the end of the year, so our librarian can go through our stock and make sure we have everything! The first class to return their books wins a prize, so please send those books back as soon as possible!
Mail Pockets:
- Buddy Party notices.
- Home Reading bags went home if returned.
