Highlights of the Day:
We began our morning by looking at some online artifacts from Alberta's past (pictures from the Glenbow Museum), and having a discussion around how things change. We then wrote in our visual journals about how our own family has changed from the past until now! After recess, we learned about the five things plants need to survive: water, soil, space, sun, and air! We the had Music, followed by phys. ed.! After lunch, we had some free centre time, then worked with Mrs. Wood on our stories! We finished the day with a short math review of Inverse Relationships!
Library is tomorrow, so remember to bring back those library books!
The families of Beacon Hill School in Fort McMurray have lost everything. Their principal, Garrett Tebay and her librarian, have asked for our support. They would like to help their families rebuild their home libraries. Prince of Wales can help!! Clean out your bookshelves, order some new books from Scholastic or stop by your local bookstore. Please drop off NEW or Gently Used books at the school. Mrs. Tebay will pick them up when she is in Calgary and deliver them. Thank you for your help!
Please and Thank You / Volunteer Opportunities:
- We would love to have morning reading volunteers to share books with students one-on-one, from 8:30-9:00 any day that it works for you!
1) We would gratefully welcome 4 volunteers to join us on a Suburban Community Tour around our school's neighborhood on Monday, June 6.
2) The grade one Urban Community Tour will be on Tuesday, June 14. This is a while away, but we are hoping for 10-12 volunteers to make it as smooth an experience as possible. It is always a highlight for grade one students and parents, so we hope you can join us!
Library:
Our Library day is tomorrow, and many of our students have books out that are long overdue! Please remember to bring back any books that have been taken out of the Library for tomorrow (remember, you can renew books you really want to keep reading!). Thank you!
Mail Pockets:
- No new mail today.
- Home Reading bags went home if returned.

Daily Challenge:
Can you explain to your family the five things plants need to survive? How will you help your classroom plant meet its needs?
