We started our day with a quick lesson on how to open a "Word" document and type on the computer! We then continued to work on our stories! After recess, we discussed some mental math strategies that could help us when we get stuck playing the game "Salute" (e.g. using our understanding of doubles!). We then had Music, followed by phys. ed.! After a very fun lunch, we got together in our different reading groups and read our Guided Reading books with each other! We then had a very interesting discussion about what makes something living and what would be considered non-living. We were surprised by how difficult it was to determine what, exactly, made something living-- growth? Consuming nutrients? Producing Waste? Feeling? Moving? All of the above? We hope to continue to explore this topic tomorrow! We finished the day with a special guest, Miss Purkiss, who came in a read us a story about gratitude!

The families of Beacon Hill School in Fort McMurray have lost everything. Their principal, Garrett Tebay and her librarian, have asked for our support. They would like to help their families rebuild their home libraries. Prince of Wales can help!! Clean out your bookshelves, order some new books from Scholastic or stop by your local bookstore. Please drop off NEW or Gently Used books at the school. Mrs. Tebay will pick them up when she is in Calgary and deliver them. Thank you for your help!
Please and Thank You / Volunteer Opportunities:
- We would love to have morning reading volunteers to share books with students one-on-one, from 8:30-9:00 any day that it works for you!
1) We would gratefully welcome 4 volunteers to join us on a Suburban Community Tour around our school's neighborhood on Monday, June 6.
2) The grade one Urban Community Tour will be on Tuesday, June 14. This is a while away, but we are hoping for 10-12 volunteers to make it as smooth an experience as possible. It is always a highlight for grade one students and parents, so we hope you can join us!
